You’re in for a surprise today…
Instead of my usual marketing articles and web design tips, I’m in the mood to just plain talk – so grab a cup of coffee because this is your chance to really see how Lynn thinks! For those of you who don’t already know me personally, I am a 29 year old single mother of two awesome kids and I work from my home office full-time as the owner of Web Service Network. Working from home is a personal choice, and has been the best decision I have ever made in my life!

Quick Facts:

  • Last “real job” (haha):  Unix Sys Admin, 1996
  • Location: Lakeside Cabin on Center Hill Lake (Tennessee)
  • Least Favorite Things: Car Trouble! Right up there with Computer Problems!!
  • Favorite Things: Chocolate and my happy little Super Computer
     (nicknamed “the Fishtank”)

Believe it or not, I often sit here and wonder about all of you… What are your goals?, What type of business are in, or are you still searching for the perfect career?, I wonder if that marketing technique excited you as much as it did me… Sometimes I wonder if there are any Tupperware Ladies in the audience, or how many of you are reading this from your desk at work and wishing YOU were enjoying the benefits of a home office and your own business…

I’m a real person… with a sincere interest in helping you achieve your goals! Please do feel free to drop me a line and say hello, ask a question, or share some insight with me – I would absolutely love to hear from you!

I increased the hits to my website by over 50,000/month! How did I do it? Following the very same tips that I publish in this newsletter every Monday! Scroll up and click the link to view the SSWT Archives – my personal favorite was “Your Marketing Plan”. A quick rundown:

  1. Publish your own Website AND Newsletter
  2. Write Articles, or write your own Ebook
  3. Join top-rated Affiliate Programs
  4. Network with your Targeted Market
  5. Submit Press Releases, both online & offline

Over 50,000 additional hits per month felt great to me – and of course it is continuing to grow every week! Someone asked me recently, “Well yeah, but did that actually equal increased sales??”… The answer is Yes! My Affiliate Marketing techniques brought in just over $400 last month, number of subscribers to my newsletter doubled, and I am currently working on some exciting new projects for people all over the country! By the way, at only an hour a week, $400 in a month equaled $100/hour! Obviously the more time and energy you put into any particular marketing tactic, the better your results… Choose your strategy and GO FOR IT!

Am I a Marketing Guru? NO… And I am not a Self-Made Millionaire or an Internet Prodigy…  I am one person that chose the Internet as the foundation for my Career… and I made it work against all odds. SO CAN YOU! The “American Dream” truly is possible, and it’s available to anyone. Success, for me, is defined by happiness – not money. And becoming “successful” has been every bit as wonderful as I could have ever imagined! Of course, being financially independent and in control of my future are excellent benefits <smile> !

What is Lynn Doing Now?

Here are just a few of my most current and favorite projects…

MomsCareer.com and Moms-Mall.com, owned by Kelly Hoagland
Kelly and I began working together on her two websites just over a year ago, and have become good friends (Hi Kelly!) as well as continuing to do business on a daily basis. She is great to work with and offers some excellent advertising options on both of her sites, as well as tons of great resources and information for those of you considering at At-Home Career.

TranquilMoments.net, owned by Amy Langholz
Amy
has an awesome personal testimony behind her business, and puts her ALL into what she does! We have been working together on the design and marketing of her website since July of this year, and she is a pleasure to know. Her products are unique and make absolutely wonderful gifts – Good luck in all that you do, Amy!

Do What You Love, owned by Calissa Leigh
I recently began working with Calissa on her weekly Newsletter, and I absolutely love her business concept! Calissa was well known for her excellent work-at-home business/job/career advice and it is awesome to see her doing what she loves!

Marketing Chats at WAHM.com, owned by Cheryl Demas
As a Mother and Business Owner, WAHM.com (stands for Work-at-home-Mom) has been one of my favorite resources since I began in early 1997. I have grown to respect Cheryl very much over the years, and the community she has built online serves many purposes. I recently began hosting Marketing Chats at her website, which has been lots of fun! (If you are interested in attending the Marketing Chats, send me an email and I will add you to the list of people I personally notify when dates and times are posted!)

An Article of mine to be published in an upcoming issue of Emphasis on Moms
As most of you know, I really enjoy writing and have been working towards having some of my personal and business articles published online. This personal story of mine tells why a single mother (myself) would leave the corporate world and choose to work at home full-time: http://www.webservicenetwork.com/Christmas2000.htm .

A Few Quick Tips for Making Your Work-Day Easier:

  • Use Internet Explorer's option to remember your passwords! I used to find myself constantly chasing down passwords (as a seriously loyal Netscape user) - this is great LOL. Also – you know how Internet Explorer remembers all of the forms you’ve filled out in the past and offers that list back to you when filling out a new form? If you’re like me, you have several options that are either typo’s or aren’t relevant anymore – the next time that happens, point your mouse over the one you will never use and hit your Delete key on the keyboard ~ Poof, it’s gone now!
  • You can fix your mouse settings so that your pointer automatically points to the default button in a dialog box. This saves a lot of mouse-chasing and makes things neat & quick. * PC Users go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Mouse, and click on Pointer Options, then check the "snap to" option
  • If you aren’t comfortable at your desk or work area, or are hurting in any way - change what you are doing! Carpel Tunnel & Repetitive Stress Syndrome are *serious* issues. At 29 years old, my knees and right wrist made me feel like an arthritic 90yo! I ditched the office chair and moved a recliner in front of my computer desk - Hey, do what it takes... You're the boss!

Thoughts from Lynn:

You know... success - small or large - is still success. I thought on that quite a bit this week as I was celebrating my little milestones. We can’t compare ourselves to anyone else - we really can’t - because we are each *unique* in our ability and our character. We are each given different talents, and it is my personal conviction that I am *expected* to live up to my full potential (regardless of how *my* full potential relates to anyone else’s). If you are a Bible reader, you'll remember the Parable of the Talents - where each man was given a different amount... and judged on what he did with his talents. To me, that parable has nothing to do with "money". The meaning of it really hit me hard - and stuck with me.

Testimonials:

I have to tell you the site is more than we had hoped for! We can not express our gratitude for what you have done. I know you probably could have gotten twice what you charged us and you did not have to work out a payment plan for us. We will be forever grateful.
