1) Dreamweaver Tip – Defining Sites
===============================

For those of you that are using Macromedia Dreamweaver as your HTML editor, this tip will save you hours of time! This is particularly useful when you need to change the navigation on every page of your site, or when you need to change a link on any page it might appear on your site. Instead of editing each page individually, or searching every page to see if contains the link you need to change, you can use these steps to make the update automatically on every relevant page:

1)  Launch Dreamweaver.
    A blank document opens.

2) Choose Site > Define Sites.

3) In the Define Sites dialog box, click New.

4) Enter the name of the site you are working on.

5) Click the folder icon to the right of the Local Root Folder field, and choose the folder on your hard drive that contains your web site files.

6) Enter your website address, and click OK. Create a cache file and click Done.

The Site window opens, displaying all of your website files. You can now go to Edit > Replace and enter any code that is on your site, along with the code you would like to replace it with – and with the click of a button (“Replace All”), every link or image within your website will be updated!

=============================
2) Dynamic Content – How & Why
=============================

This is just one of the many great uses for Dynamic Content – but its an important one! Going back to Joint Venture Marketing* as discussed in a previous issue, you might choose to swap content with another website owner to increase exposure, while offering your visitors even more relevant content (also beneficial in your search engine ranking!). Using Dynamic Content, both site owners can have complete control over the content that is displayed on the other website simply by updating a page on their own web server!

For example, using the Tupperware & Recipe Swap sites again, the Tupperware pages could be automatically updated each week to reflect the “Recipe of the Week”, and the Recipe Swap page could automatically contain the most current Tupperware specials… using a simple piece of [copy & paste] code that each site owner can use to update a page on their own website and have those changes reflected on a specific page of the other website as well.

Anytime you want to make updates to more than one site at a time, or would like to rotate or change the content on a website where you have limited server access, this code will come in handy! See this example in action:

http://www.webservicenetwork.com/dynamiccontent.html

If you view the source code of that page (View > Source), you’ll notice that there is nothing there that shows the code for the table and text that you see. What you will find is that the content is pulled from another website altogether, specifically: http://www.marygoulet.net/wsradio.html . Do you see the potential here? (More about what you saw on that page is mentioned below)

You can easily customize this code to use in rotating advertisements, content and news/specials…

You can grab the copy & paste code here:

4) Note from Lynn J  & More Tips!
==============================

Last week I told you about The Homebased Business Show on wsRadio.com (http://www.webservicenetwork.com/newsletter/111802.htm).

Mark LeBlanc was on this past Wednesday and he was INCREDIBLE! I called in and won a copy of his book :D I am totally hooked - its like attending seminars and conferences on a variety of business and marketing topics... in the comfort of your own home - and at NO COST!

You can click here to go straight to The Homebased Business Show and listen to the archives: http://www.wsradio.com/cart/ProductDetail.asp?PR_ProductID=240

Have fun!! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have :)

Also…

Remember how I talked about becoming an affiliate of eBay and making .05 cents per bid, and $5.00 per new registration? (I am making good commission with this program, by the way!) Well, I found a new tool where you can add your auction listings to your website using your affiliate link, and it is SO COOL! It updates automatically, so you just put the code in and be done!

You saw the code in action above, in the Dynamic Content Section. If you missed it, you can also see it here: http://www.MaryGoulet.net/sponsorinfo.html

Pretty nice, huh?
Okay, if you haven’t yet signed up to be an affiliate, click here:

If you aren’t selling on eBay at all yet, you can click here for some cool eBay tips & sign up for an eBay ID: http://www.WebServiceNetwork.com/ebay.htm

Once you sign up to be an affiliate, if you can’t find the code to add to your web page, or have any trouble with it at all, email me at Lynn@WebServiceNetwork.com  - :)

On a personal note…

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday weekend J I am planning to be out of town Thursday through Sunday to visit with family, and take some time off to hang out with the kids and relax for a few days. I hope you each have an enjoyable day with much to be thankful for!
